Dandruff

DEFINITION

Dandruff is a common chronic scalp condition marked by flaking of the skin on your scalp. Although dandruff isn't contagious and is rarely serious, it can be embarrassing and sometimes difficult to treat.

The good news is that dandruff usually can be controlled. Mild cases of dandruff may need nothing more than daily shampooing with a gentle cleanser. More stubborn cases of dandruff often respond to medicated shampoos.

SYMPTOMS

For most teens and adults, dandruff symptoms are easy to spot: white, oily looking flakes of dead skin that dot your hair and shoulders, and a possibly itchy(ITCHING of scalp : Abrot., acon., agar.agn.,alum.am-c.am-m.anac., anag., anan., ant-c.apis.arg-n.ars-i., ars., arund., aur-s., aur., bad., Bar-c., benz-ac., berb., bov.bry., Calc-s.Calc., caps., carb-ac.carb-an.Carb-s.,carb-v.caust.clem.cob., coff., coloc., com., con., corn., crot-h.cupr-ar., cycl.daph., dig.,dros.elaps., eup-pur., fago., ferr-ar., ferr-i., ferr-p., ferr., fl-ac.form.Graph.hep.hura., Ind., iod., jug-c., jug-r., kali-ar.kali-bi., kali-c., kali-chl., kali-i., kali-p., kali-s.lach., laur.Lyc., mag-c., mag-m., manc., med.meph., merc-c.,merc-i-f.merc-sul., merc.Mez.Nat-m., nit-ac., nux-v., olnd.paeon., par., petr.ph-ac.,phos.ran-s., rat., rhod., rhus-t., ruta.sabad.,sarr., sars.sel., sep.sil.spong.staph.stry.,sul-ac.Sulph., tab., tarax., tarent.tell.thuj., til., verat., vinc., zinc.), scaly scalp. The condition may worsen during the fall and winter, when indoor heating can contribute to dry skin(DRY: Acon-f., acon.alum.am-c.ambr., ant-c., ant-t.anthr.apis.arg-m., arg-n., arn.ars-i.Ars., asaf., bar-c., bar-m., Bell.bism.bor.,Bry., bufo., calc-s., Calc.camph.cann-s.,canth., carb-an., carb-s.carb-v.caust.,Cham.chel.chin-a.Chin., clem., cocc., coff.,Colch., coloc., con., crot-h.Dulc.Eup-per., ferr-ar., ferr-p., ferr.graph.hell., hep., hydr-ac.hyos.ign., iod.ip.Kali-ar., kali-bi., Kali-c., kali-n., kali-p., kali-s., kreos., lach.laur.,Led.lith.Lyc.mag-c.mang., merc.mez., mosch., mur-ac., nat-a.nat-c.nat-m.nat-p.,nit-ac.Nux-m., nux-v., Olnd.Op., par., Petr.,ph-ac.Phos.phyt.plat.Plb.psor.puls.,ran-b., ran-s., rhod., rhus-t.rumx., ruta.,sabad.samb., Sec.Seneg.sep.Sil., spig.,spong.squil.staph.Stram., stront., sul-ac.,Sulph.sumb.Teucr., thuj., ust., valer., vera), and improve during the summer.

A type of dandruff called cradle cap can affect babies. Although it can be alarming for parents, cradle cap isn't dangerous and usually clears up on its own by the time a baby is 3 years old.

Cause:

Miasoma-

Dandruff can have several causes, including:

  • Dry skin. Simple dry skin is the most common cause of dandruff. Flakes from dry skin are generally smaller and less oily than those from other causes of dandruff, and you'll likely have symptoms and signs of dry skin on other parts of the body, such as your legs and arms.
  • Irritated, oily skin (seborrheic dermatitis). (GREASY : Agar., arg-n., aur., bar-c.bry.bufo., calc., caust., chin.mag-c.med., merc.nat-m.plb.psor.rhus-t.sel.stram., thuj., tub.

    forehead : Hydr.psor.

lips : Am-m.)This condition, one of the most frequent causes of dandruff, is marked by red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Seborrheic dermatitis may affect your scalp and other areas rich in oil glands, such as your eyebrows, the sides of your nose and the backs of your ears, your breastbone, your groin area, and sometimes your armpits.
  • Not shampooing often enough. If you don't regularly wash your hair, oils and skin cells from your scalp can build up, causing dandruff.
  • Other skin conditions. People with skin conditions such as eczema (eczema : Alum., am-c., am-m., anac., ant-c., arg-n., Ars-i.Ars., astac., aur-m.aur., Bar-m., bell., bor., brom., bry., calad.Calc-s.,Calc., canth., carb-ac., carb-s., carb-v.caust.,Cic., clem., cop., Crot-t., cycl., Dulc., fl-ac.,Graph.Hep., hydr., iris.Jug-c.Jug-r.kali-ar.kali-bi., kali-c., kali-chl.kali-s.lach.,Lappa-m., led., lith.lyc.merc.Mez., nat-m., nat-p., nat-s., nit-ac., Olnd.Petr., phos., phyt.,Psor.ran-b.Rhus-t., rhus-v., sars.sep.sil.,staph.Sul-i.Sulph.thuj.viol-t.

    — a skin condition marked by a rapid buildup of rough, dry, dead skin cells that form thick scales — may appear to have dandruff.
  • A yeast-like fungus (malassezia).(Fungus- apis melifica, bacillinum, calcaria iod, calcarium phosphoricum, phosphorus, thuja occidentalis.)Malassezia lives on the scalps of most adults, but for some, it irritates the scalp. This can irritate your scalp and cause more skin cells to grow. The extra skin cells die and fall off, making them appear white and flaky in your hair or on your clothes. Why malassezia irritates some scalps isn't known.
  • Sensitivity to hair care products (contact dermatitis). Sometimes sensitivities to certain ingredients in hair care products or hair dyes, especially paraphenylenediamine, can cause a red, itchy, scaly scalp. Shampooing too often or using too many styling products also may irritate your scalp, causing dandruff.

RISK FACTORS

Almost anyone can have dandruff, but certain factors can make you more susceptible:

  • Age. Dandruff usually begins in young adulthood and continues through middle age. That doesn't mean older adults don't get dandruff. For some people, the problem can be lifelong.
  • Being male. Because more men have dandruff, some researchers think male hormones may play a role. Men also have larger oil-producing glands on their scalps, which can contribute to dandruff.
  • Oily hair and scalp. Malassezia feeds on oils in your scalp. For that reason, having excessively oily skin and hair makes you more prone to dandruff.
  • Poor diet. If your diet lacks foods high in zinc, B vitamins or certain types of fats, you may be more likely to have dandruff.
  • Certain illnesses. For reasons that aren't clear, adults with neurological diseases, such as Parkinson's disease, are more likely to develop seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff. So are people with HIV infection and those recovering from stressful conditions, particularly heart attack and stroke, and those with compromised immune systems.

LIFESTYLE AND HOME REMEDIES

In addition to regular shampooing, you can take steps to reduce your risk of developing dandruff:

  • Learn to manage stress. Stress affects your overall health, making you susceptible to a number of conditions and diseases. It can even help trigger dandruff or worsen existing symptoms.
  • Shampoo often. If you tend to have an oily scalp, daily shampooing may help prevent dandruff.
  • Cut back on styling products. Hair sprays, styling gels, mousses and hair waxes can all build up on your hair and scalp, making them oilier.
  • Eat a healthy diet. A diet that provides enough zinc, B vitamins and certain types of fats may help prevent dandruff.
  • Get a little sun. Sunlight may be good for dandruff. But because exposure to ultraviolet light damages your skin and increases your risk of skin cancer, don't sunbathe. Instead, just spend a little time outdoors. And be sure to wear sunscreen on your face and body.

ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE

One alternative therapy that has been shown to reduce dandruff in small studies is daily shampooing with tea tree oil. More study is needed.

Tea tree oil, which comes from the leaves of the Australian tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia), has been used for centuries as an antiseptic, antibiotic and antifungal agent. It's now included in a number of shampoos found in natural foods stores. The oil may cause allergic reactions in some people.

Syphilis Miasma part 1

" The second chronic miasma, which is more widely spread than the figwart disease, and which for three and a half(now four) centuries has been the source of many others chronic ailments, is the miasm of the general disease proper, the changed disease ( syphilis). This disease only causes difficulties in its cure, if it is entangled(complicated) with a Psora that has been already far developed- with sycosis it is complicated but rarely, but then usually at the same time with pasora."

               - Dr C.F.S. Hahnemann

SIMPLE DISCUSSION: According to DR. C. F. S. Hahnemann's concept- in the history of human civilization the miasmatic evolutions may occur, first Psora and then second Chancer disease( syphilis).
Syphilis may developed it's functions in Hunan civilization after Psora and before figwart disease( sycosis).

Due to it's natural event ( rapidly destruction) the chancer disease spread out over all the world rapidly in a short duration of time, then figwart disease( sycosis), because it's slow in nature. Maybe or may not be after psora the next 2 miasm starts their journey in a equal period of time with Human civilization. But the chancer disease become second against figwart disease by it's rapidly development overall the human civilization.

The miasm is not a matter as like as sugar and water, so they can't mixed each others. Sometimes with a ( active developed psoric phase )patient conditions, the syphilis can make it's wide and deeply development in this individual.
Before activation of syphilitic dyscrasia, the ancient Psora can make a suitable soil for easily development of syphilitic dyscrasia.
So after development of syphilis with an active psoric phase, the total entangled ( complicated) phase become so difficulty for understanding with us.

Miasm is nothing but a deranged state of vital force. Which can make negative susceptibility( susceptible to any external influence which harmful for the individual or the Human civilization). We say them fundamental miasm, which can spread out( the deranged state of vital force) it man to man, civilization to civilization.

By the way, some time the syphilitic dayscrasia may  complicate with sycotic stigmata. Without psoric influence only syphilitic dyscrasia can't complicated with sycotic stigmata. Psora give event for developing them( syplhis & sycosis). This conditions was rarely present in Hahnemann's time, but available in modern time.
